A bit about your instructor:
I have been climbing for over 15 years and have worked as a climbing guide, instructor and high ropes course facilitator. I have pursued personal climbing objectives across the United States and Alaska. After receiving severe frostbite on both feet on Mount Hunter in the Alaska range 10 years ago I realized that my fear had become overwhelming and was sucking the fun out of climbing and making it nearly impossible to be present and enjoy the mountains I love so dearly.
Upon returning to the lower 48 I began a quest to find a way past my overwhelming fear while climbing and take back the joy I knew was possible. This search led to therapy sessions, reading books such as The Rock Warrior's Way and countless other articles, blog posts and becoming trained as a professional coach. Much of the information I discovered was based on the idea of “exposure.” Meaning if you just climb more and do lots of fall practice the fear will naturally subside. While there was some improvement in fear reduction there still seemed to be something missing.
Through observations, trial and error, research, experimenting and coaching others I realized that a missing link was focused mental fitness and mindset training BEFORE extended exposure. Our brains need to be “prepped” and “worked out” so that they are ready to absorb new information and build new neural pathways. This revelation led to a huge transformation and allowed me to go climbing consistently and push my personal limits all while having fun, staying focused and being present.
This is the transformation I would love to bring to your life and climbing!
