Mental Fitness Coaching for the Mindful Mountain Athlete
Fear doesn't have to win every time you're on the wall
You love climbing. But somewhere between the approach and the crux, something takes over — and it's not a skill problem. I help mountain athletes understand what's driving their fear and build real tools to move through it.
Does this sound familiar?
-
Your body has the moves. Your brain won't let you commit. And the harder you push, the worse it gets.
-
You tried the usual advice. Breathe. Trust your training. Take some falls. And yet here you are, still stuck.
-
You berate yourself, think something's wrong with you, keep it quiet and hope it goes away on its own.
-
You remember what it felt like to move freely and be present. You want that back.
What clients are saying
“I sought out coaching as a female climber who struggles to feel confident in her skill sets, and has a difficult time quieting a very anxious brain before big climbing days. Bryan worked with me through each obstacle, helping me see things from a different perspective and giving me tools to work with when I encounter personal challenges. Since our coaching sessions not only has my climbing improved but (more importantly) my mindset has as well - I highly recommend working with Bryan, it is the best thing I have done for myself during my time as a climber.”

Hi I’m Bryan Dalpes.
I love to play in the mountains. Skiing, climbing, running, mountain biking, basically if it’s outside and it’s “fun” then I’m in!
Over the years I have worked as a mountain guide, ski instructor, ski patroller, and fire fighter/EMT (to name a few). Often times while working these rewarding though sometimes stressful jobs I would be overcome with anxiety, fear and doubt. I many times questioned if I was “good enough” and would compare myself to others whom I perceived as smarter, stronger and more capable. The tension from these limiting, self-critical thoughts spilled over into my relationships and personal passions. I found myself frustrated, unmotivated and constantly questioning my decisions. In short, I was not living the, adventurous, joyful, passionate life I had envisioned.
Something needed to change but I couldn’t see what that was.
Through much training, trial and error and support from others further on the path, I was able to hone skills to stay focused and connected even when things were stressful and overwhelming.
This enabled me to see that my experiences up to this point, while challenging and sometimes painful, have given me an invaluable perspective on the importance of embracing the journey.
I would be honored to partner with you on the next leg of your journey.
